Introducing ‘LO HI’ – the first single from Los Angeles duo Peaking Lights’ highly anticipated new album Lucifer.
Recorded in Brooklyn at Gary’s Electric studio over the course of a month, Peaking Lights consider Lucifer a nocturnal version of their uniquely eclectic sound. Heavier and more rhythmic, elements of analogue dance music, sound collage and straight up pop now join the dub, krautrock and minimal house influences that made their acclaimed 936 such a richly immersive trip.
With its dank, low-slung groove, handmade sci-fi synth explorations and starry-eyed mantras, ‘LO HI’ is a loved-up, seven minute long odyssey that offers a perfect window into a record that the band have described as being about “play and playfulness, unconditional love, rhythms and pulses, creation and vibration”. It also represents the recording debut of Mikko – Coyes and Dunis’ baby son – the birth of whom had a great impact on the themes and feel of Lucifer as a whole. Look for him in the bridge!
