Premiered today via FADER, “Like A Hunger” is the first track from UK composer, producer and songwriter Will Archer (formerly recording as Slime) since 2015’s acclaimed album Company. Now going under the name Wilma Archer (the Wilma re-appropriated from a teasing school nickname), the track is the first fruit of a couple of years of prolific writing and recording, and the first in a series of collaborative releases planned for 2017.
“Like A Hunger” sees Archer team up with New York City based singer and songwriter Amber Mark, who recently signed to PMR records and released first single “Lose My Cool” last month. Written and recorded in remote collaboration, the track brilliantly evokes the dizzying, often contradictory nature of relationships.
“My instrumental was loosely based on a platonic relationship which had turned sour, inspired by that crude, bold kind of sarcasm that can follow a misunderstanding between people”, says Archer. “Thankfully, Amber never heard it that way, and I love the irony of how two entirely opposing sentiments can appear so intentional.”
